Do you know that yucky feeling you get when you’ve eaten something bad? Then bloating, diarrhea and even nausea and vomiting begin to happen. We’ve all had food poisoning before and it’s not a fun time. Due to the fact that the gut and brain are intimately connected it’s very difficult to do anything when our stomachs are upset.
Many years ago I learned about oil of oregano for a wide variety of infections in the body. Oil of oregano is arguably nature’s most powerful essential oil for infections including bacteria, yeast, viruses and parasites. Oil of oregano contains two compounds known as thymol and carvacrol which are the known active components. Oil of oregano has the following uses:
- Food poisoning
- Sinus infections
- Upper respiratory infections
- Helicobacter Pylori (the bacteria that causes ulcers)
- Intestinal bacterial infections
- Intestinal viral infections
- Urinary tract infections
Oil of oregano comes in soft gels with olive oil added to reduce the burn that people get when it hits the stomach (this stuff is strong!) and it also comes in a time-released emulsified form. The time-released form has a slow release but both work just fine. Next time you feel like you have food poisoning take 4-6 soft gels three times a day with food. If you are having trouble eating due to the food poisoning take them with some crackers.
After the first dose you will actually watch the bloating in your stomach reduce and the rest of your symptoms will fade away. I have successfully used this oil for four years with many patients who have had infections and it has never failed. Nothing works faster or better than oil of oregano for food poisoning. Oil of oregano does not discriminate however, so you must replenish the good bacteria with a probiotic containing lactobacillus and bifidobacter after use. I always have a bottle with me when I travel.
